New Vegas has more radio stations, which breaks down the number of songs. In Fallout 3, basically all the songs were lumped into one station. Enclave Radio and Agatha's station were very short song lists. In New Vegas, you have Radio New Vegas, Mojave Music, Black Mountain, Mysterious Broadcast, and the main casinos had an internal soundtrack.
In the Fallout: New Vegas game files, there are many listings to songs that have been removed from the game. These listings start with the prefix, "MUSNVTemp". While the song titles are listed in the GECK, the artists are not. Note: The song artist names listed below are unconfirmed, but are likely accurate based on the shared label (Soundies). The song, The World We Knew (Over and Over) by
The music in both 3 and Vegas was incredible, but I’ll also have to give a slight nod to New Vegas here. It’s very close though. Mark Morgan (who also composed music for the television show One Tree Hill)’s haunting score is both a breath of fresh air and terrifying in many regards, with an added dose of heart-wrenching nostalgia thrown
The Fallout: New Vegas intro is the opening cinematic of Fallout: New Vegas. The intro begins playing the song "Blue Moon" inside the casino of the Lucky 38 with a crooked portrait of the casino, the camera slowly rotating upright and moving away to reveal more of its surroundings. It proceeds to exit the casino, picking up pace as it tours the Strip while "Blue Moon" slowly becomes fainter

Music Addition (Capital Wasteland Only) After fiddling around in xEdit for unknown hours, I figured out how the playlists in New Vegas work. That's after I decided I wanted more than just vanilla music. So I spent even more unknown hours adding (then accidentally deleting) music from several Fallout 3 mods to TTW.
Yeah, I’m glad New Vegas decided to update the soundtrack and include 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s songs. Cobwebs and Rainbows is even a cover of a 90s song. People seem to gravitate to the modern songs as the best in NV.
